“The original wedding was a planned 3-day affair in Taormina, Sicily, at a historic castle named Castello di San Marco. I was hoping to find a dress that represented my Sicilian roots and fit the castle’s ambiance. I lived in Los Angeles and flew back to my childhood home in Buffalo, NY, to share the dress experience with my mother, aunt, and sister. We went to Victoria’s Bridal Shoppe and shared the theme and location of the wedding in Sicily with the Bridal Shoppe Manager. She was over the moon as she knew the perfect Italian designer (Eddy K) to show us. It was then that I tried on the CALA, and we all knew it was the one! Not many brides can say that they had the opportunity to wear their wedding dress more than once. I ended up wearing my dress three times. During that same trip to Buffalo in February 2020, I coordinated a secret photo shoot with my Nonna in my dress. Her health was rapidly declining. One week later, we went into Lockdown, and two months later, we canceled our dream Sicilian wedding. Even though I was heartbroken, I was so thankful that I could feel like a bride for a day in my beautiful dress and share that special intimate moment with my Nonna. 333 days after our original wedding date, Collin and I went back to where we met and fell in love, New York City. We had an intimate ceremony at the Beekman Hotel filled with our Sicilian customs and traditions with just our parents and siblings. I felt like a true princess. Two weeks later, we celebrated in Buffalo, NY, with my immediate family. My third time wearing my dress.” -Gabriella
